This Privacy Policy explains how wussup (“wussup”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile and web application (the “app”). By using wussup you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
We collect the information you give us and a limited amount created as you use the app:
Account information — your name, username (handle), email address, and (optionally) your phone number and Instagram handle.
Profile — your profile photo and any city/location you set.
Content you create — posts and events, descriptions, images, RSVPs, comments/notes, groups you create or join, and your friend connections.
Location — the city and approximate coordinates you provide for your profile and events, used to show nearby and relevant plans. We do not track your precise, continuous location in the background.
Reports and safety data — reports you submit and users you block or restrict, so we can keep the community safe.
Device and usage data — basic technical information (such as app version and general activity) needed to operate and secure the service, and local storage on your device to keep you signed in.
How we use your information
To provide the app — create your account, show plans, RSVPs, and friends.
To surface relevant and nearby events based on the location you set.
To enable social features (friends, groups, invites, sharing).
To keep wussup safe — review reports, enforce blocks and restrictions, and prevent abuse.
To communicate with you about the service.
How your information is shared
With other users — according to the privacy settings you choose. Public posts are visible more broadly; private and private+ posts are visible only to people you share them with; blocking and “hide my activity” further limit who sees you.
Service providers — we use Supabase for database, authentication, and file storage, and mapping services to interpret the locations you enter. They process data on our behalf.
Legal reasons — if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of wussup or others.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your controls
Choose a privacy tier (public, private, private+) for every post.
Block someone so neither of you sees the other’s posts or plans.
“Hide my activity” to keep your RSVPs and/or posts from a specific person.
Edit your profile, or delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from within the app, your profile and the content tied to your account are removed from our live database. Some information may persist temporarily in encrypted backups or where retention is required by law.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including access controls and encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Children
wussup is not intended for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
International users
wussup is operated using service providers that may store and process data in the United States and other countries. By using the app you consent to this processing.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app, or contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
